Details of Formation: The group was first mentioned in 2012 (Human Rights Watch).
Details of Termination: The group is coded dissolved from August 04, 2014 on because of its affiliation to the Muslim Brotherhood, which was against the newly elected HoR government.
Purpose: The Tripoli Military Council has the purpose of securing the capital (Human Rights Watch).
Organisation: The Tripoli Military Council reports to the Defense Ministry (Human Rights Watch). It was also connected to the GNC president Abu Samhayn, who ordered the TMC commander to reactivate the PGM in 2014. In 2014, it was led by Sadat Badri.

Other Information: The group is an interrupted PGM. It existed 2012-01-01 until 2012-08-08, when the GNC took over government. The PGM’s then-leader, Abdalhakim Bilhajj,had left the group and run for office in the election but had lost. It became active again in March 2014, when the GNC president ordered the Tripoli Military Council’s commander to secure the capital after an attack on the GNC. The 2014 leader Sadat Badri is affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood.
