Details of Formation: The Georgian independence day was used as date of formation. The group formed out of armed peasants responding to the president’s appeal for support.
Details of Termination: President Gamsakhurdia was deposed on January 6, 1992.
Purpose: The group’s main purpose was to protect president Gamsakhurdia during the civil unrests.

Weapons and Training: A news source dated 16 days after the termination of the PGM suggests the group had guns, hunting rifles and dynamite. It describes the weapons and equipment as being in very bad condition.
Size: At the end of December 1991, the group had around 300 fighters.
Reason for Membership: Members joined in order to support president Gamsakhurdia.

Other Information: The Zviadists (http://www.ucdp.uu.se/#/actor/333) might be a successor group of this PGMD, although the UCDP coding suggests that this was a newly created group.
